- You just move your cursor to each box to input the word.
- The last box is where you have to write your message.
- Now, move your cursor to the upper-left corner of the message box.
- Finally, we try to write something in Japanese!
|
|
11
|
- Look at the lower-right corner of your Windows taskbar. Do you see the
square button EN?
- Click it, and then another window, showing English and Japanese,
appears. Click Japanese. EN at the taskbar is now JA.
- At the same time, a small window pops up, showing you IME taskbar.
- The right button is to choose different input modes. It now shows a wide
A. Click it and choose 全角ひらがな.
|
|
12
|
- The A is changed to show あ, which means that the input mode is ひらがな.
- You may now write ひらがな by typing
ローマじ on your keyboard. Go back to the message box at Hotmail
site.
- First, type aiueo on your keyboard. Underlined あいうえお appears in the
message box. Hit Enter key on your keyboard. The underline disappears,
and your あいうえお is configured there.
|
|
13
|
- First, hit Space key to make a space after あいうえお.
- You remember how to write your name in かたかな. If your name is Heather, it
must be ヘザー. You type h, e, z, a, and hit the key at the right of number
0 to make a long horizontal line.
- へざー appears on the display. While it still has an underline, hit F7 key.
It’s converted to ヘザー. Hit Enter key to configure.
|
|
14
|
- F7 key converts any underlined word to かたかな.
- Typing small ひらがな like きゃ、きゅ、りゅ、りゃ, in ローマじ, you need to put y between
these. Example: kya, kyu, ryu, rya.
- しゃ、しゅ、しょ are to be typed like sha, shu, sho.
- If you still have problem, ask your せんせい to help you.
|
|
15
|
- Now, delete what you’ve written, by hitting Back space key one at a
time.
- Write こんにちは、せんせい。 The procedure must be sennsei and then hit the key of
comma, for “、”. Hit Enter key, to configure. (ん is “nn” on your
keyboard)
- Then, konnnichiha. Hit the key of dot for “。”. And then, Hit Enter key
again to delete underline.
- Got it right?
|
|
16
|
- Write わたしは(or ぼくは)xxxxxxx (your name in かたかな) です。
- Write このメールは、テストです。
- メールmeans “E-mail” in Japanese.
- Write さようなら。
- Got it? If not, ask せんせい for help.
|
|
17
|
- Now, you write せんせいのメールアドレス in “To”.
- And your Hotmail アドレス in “Cc”, so that you get a copy of your mail.
- Or, check the box of Copy message to sent folder, so that you can save
your mail in the folder called “Sent”. Otherwise, you don’t see the
mails you’ve sent.
- Click Send.
- Your mail was sent to せんせい!
|
|
18
|
- Ask せんせい, if she/he got your E-mail.
- Go to “Inbox” and check if a copy of the mail has arrived in it.
- Click it, then you’ll see a copy of your mail just sent to せんせい. Close
it.
- Now, the important part. If you finish your work at Hotmail site, you
MUST sign out.
- Scroll down and find the icon named Passport Sign Out. You must click
it, whenever you want to quit this site.
|
|
19
|
- You also have a help file (the right button like a “book”) in the popup
window of IME. Go to English Manual.
- When you want to write in English, you have to change the icon JA back
to EN.
- Do not play with underlined words, by converting them to かんじ. There are
usually hundreds of suggestions, and if you don’t know the correct かんじ,
you will end up writing words that are completely out of context.
|
|
20
|
- The first lesson of Japanese computing is over.
- Your will get an E-mail from せんせい to confirm that your mail successfully
reached her/him.
- Check your Hotmail site tomorrow to see that reply on your account.
- さようなら!
